Even before filming began, director Olga Kosanović had already spent countless hours—and years—navigating bureaucratic procedures. Born in Austria to Serbian parents, she casts a critical eye on the absurdities of bureaucracy and, together with her interview partners, questions prevailing ideas of nationality and democracy.

Does being Austrian primarily mean celebrating cultural icons such as the coffeehouse tradition and the New Year’s Concert? And what does illegal parking have to do with any of it? A humorous and insightful ride through the land of mountains, the land by the river.
